Goals

Anchor Science LLC plans to develop a series of wearable, continuous, non-invasive Personal Metabolic Indicators. The devices will consist of two separate parts, a sensor in contact with the body and a hand-held display. The display component will carry out sensor control, data processing and information delivery functions. Appropriate technologies are commercially available. The sensor technology, however, is lacking.  Our initial goal concerns development of printable circuits for sensing elements of the indicators. We will concentrate on the development of a conductivity sensor for secreted body fluids

In the absence of disease, the concentration of electrolytes is indicative of hydration status and varies with an individual's phenotype, age, fluid intake, heat exposure, training, duration and intensity of exercise. With the use of a prescribed protocol, sweat conductivity is diagnostic for cystic fibrosis. Our first goal is development of a sweat conductivity probe.

Expansion of a range of analytes reliably measured in secreted bodily fluids and reportable on demand or on schedule by a wearable and unobtrusive device is expected to have a broad range of application to monitoring an individual's physiology for wellness or medical diagnostics.

Potential markets for Personal Metabolic Indicators include millions of athletes, dieters, and diabetics. The Indicators will be effectively non-invasive - no blood drawing or skin penetration. The Indicators will be discreet, nontoxic, and environmentally friendly.
